The Government Cloud is a cloud infrastructure for use by the whole of government. The Singapore Government implemented a private government cloud (G-Cloud) in 2013 for whole of government use where security and governance requirements cannot be met by public clouds. In 2014, G-Cloud was further enhanced in 2014 to provide Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings in addition to Infrastructure-as-a-Service.
A Platform to Build On
The Singapore Government Cloud or G-Cloud provides resilient computing resources to meet security and governance requirements across the whole-of-government. Agencies can subscribe to a range of Infrastructure-as-a-Service for hosting Government websites and e-services. Services available for subscription include computation, storage, networking, security, operating systems, middleware and databases. Agencies can also subscribe to Web Content Management Software-as-a-Service. The Government will further identify Software-as-a-Service offerings, such as business analytics and security services, to be made available on Cloudstore.
Companies interested in participating in the CloudStore will need to submit their applications to GovTech for qualification via a Call for Participation process. Once a cloud offering has been qualified, it will be listed on the CloudStore for agencies to procure via quotations / tenders. There will be two evaluation windows (at 6 months each) every year. Each CloudStore qualification is valid for 24 months.
The CloudStore will benefit the industry as it provides a channel for cloud providers to showcase their offerings to agencies. Agency procurement of cloud services will be simplified. The increased adoption of cloud services for government ICT needs will mean faster turnaround time and improve public service delivery.
Call For Participation
The first Call for Participation for CloudStore in the Analytics, Security and Testing categories remains open.
GovTech is opening a second Call for Participation for CloudStore and invites companies with innovative SaaS offerings to submit their applications for qualification. This submission can only be hosted on G-Cloud.
To qualify for the first evaluation window (from March to August) for both Call for Participation submissions, please submit your SaaS solutions by the end of February. Submissions after the end of February will result in the evaluation of your SaaS solution in the next evaluation window.
