About Smart Nation Ambassadors
Since the launch of the Smart Nation Ambassadors (SNA) programme in January 2019, our ambassadors have played a vital role in building a digitally inclusive Smart Nation. Coming from diverse backgrounds – from students to retirees, academics to tech professionals – SNAs are united by their interest in technology and passion for helping fellow Singaporeans embrace digital tools. To date, over 4,800 volunteers have joined us, contributing to Singapore's digital transformation by helping communities adopt and adapt to new technologies.
The Smart Nation Ambassador initiative was started as a platform to co-create our Smart Nation together with citizens. Given the shared goals and synergy between the Smart Nation Ambassador and Tech Kaki communities—particularly in learning and collaboration—the Smart Nation Ambassador initiative will be managed by GovTech starting August 2025.
Who are Smart Nation Ambassadors?
Smart Nation Ambassadors (SNAs) are volunteers who support the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group’s co-creation efforts. They support us by engaging citizens on Smart Nation and digital government initiatives.
SNAs can get involved in a variety of activities - from volunteering at government-led events to help collect feedback on digital government initiatives. As an SNA, your contribution will help build an inclusive Smart Nation, one in which people from all walks of life can benefit from having their everyday lives enhanced with technology.
What opportunities are open to me as a Smart Nation Ambassador?
SNAs co-create digital government services with the community through various formats SNAs can co-create by taking part in our online surveys, focus groups and user-testing sessions where government teams get to understand their pain points and user behaviour so that digital solutions can be built and tailored to meet citizens’ needs.
SNAs help guide the public on the use of digital government solutions. These include demonstrating government apps, and helping the public try out new technologies such as sensor technology. For example, SNAs were at the Merdeka Generation Roadshows and SkillsFuture Festival to share with the public the benefits of apps like Singpass Mobile, as well as demonstrate how to download and use them on their smartphones.
SNAs lead and guide groups at events. At larger events such as Digital Inclusion Festival and Smart Nation & U, they act as event guides. They bring the interested public around on tours to event highlights and help guide the public through the various showcases on display.
