Scams have been on the rise in recent years, with many citizens falling victim to scammers and suffering hefty losses. In a bid to strengthen Singapore’s scam prevention efforts, ScamShield was established as a joint effort by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Singapore Police Force, the National Crime Prevention Council, and Open Government Products.
ScamShield consolidates all anti-scam resources onto a single, trusted product suite that empowers citizens to combat scams. The suite consists of the ScamShield helpline (reachable at 1799), ScamShield app (for iPhone and Android), a website (www.scamshield.gov.sg) with a range of anti-scam resources, and ScamShield Alert Social Channels on WhatsApp and Telegram. Together, these tools form a robust safety net that crucial in keeping the community safe from scams and fraudulent activities.
Since May 2022, ScamShield has blacklisted and blocked over 120,000 scam entities and the app has had over 900,000 downloads since its launch.
